Recently, I had the opportunity to observe a couple at the airport that interested me. They were maybe late twenties or early thirties; she leaned against his arm which he had arched behind her, cradling his head so that his cheek touched her hair. They were laughing and talking.

I have no idea why they caught my eye but as I watched them for just a minute or two, I realized that they were the characters in my book. Exactly how I had pictured them as I wrote. That’s why they were familiar! They were Trevan and Sophie.

Of course, that was after Trevan had closed the case on the fraud at her place of employment and he had saved her life. Or she’d saved his, according to him.

Have you ever seen a random stranger and gotten an idea for a book or scene? Or thought you knew them as I did?
