I’ve been in front of the laptop for a couple days tweaking and editing my current manuscript. I’ve done all the scenes I planned to do and really fleshed out my bad guy, hero, and heroine. These are the big three in my writing. I really love books that get into the head of the bad guy or antagonist almost as much as the main characters. I will sometimes do the same with subcharacters but not so much in this one.
And now, I haven’t got a clue how to finish this one out with an ending that just makes the reader want to go WOW. I hate it when that happens. I knew exactly what the climax scene would be and how it would end, but I’m struggling with the final resolution. Sure, we all know that in a romance the girl always gets her guy…but exactly how the author does it affects the reader’s entire perception of the book. If it’s done poorly, one almost feels betrayed or let down after reading all the way through. The song “I can’t get no satisfaction” comes to mind.
Now what? I decided to search the internet for ideas. Surely all writers face this periodically? I found some really great links that I thought I’d share:

After reading these, I’m still stuck but I hope these help you with your ending. Maybe my issue has something to do with my attachment to the manuscript rather than lack of ideas. Maybe I don’t want to end it. After all, I really adore my hero. He’s awesome. And the bad guy, well, he’s a lunatic — but somehow he seems to find sanity in his weirdness. And I really relate to the heroine and what she’s gone through.
Yikes. How do I break up with them?
