Hot Off the Press by Méline Nadeau
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is an interesting twist on the “reacquainted with past love” type of story. Leigh inherits the small town newspaper that her father loved and is thrown into a working relationship with David, the man that worked for her father since his teenage years.
David’s native american heritage as well as the prevalence of a native american influence on the town adds an interesting aspect to the read. Leigh, despite David’s interference, turns around the failing paper, and soon becomes a driving force in it’s success.
The way their relationship develops and the baggage that each of them deals with in the hardships of their family relationships is well-done and builds interest.
A very nice story with a unique subplot that makes you want to learn more about the cultural influences behind it.
I look forward to hearing more from Meline in the future.
