Today’s Spotlight is on Jaye Garland, author of The 25th Hour:
What do you write?
American Western Romance, both Historical and Contemporary
What’s your favorite genre? Romance! Do you have a favorite author? Julie Garwood, Kristin Higgins, Constance O’Day-Flannery, Catherine Coulter, JoAnn Ross, Tess Gerritsen..yeah, the list goes on…
To be successful as an author, what do you see as the main goal? To keep writing my stories. I love to take an everyday occurrence and play the ‘what if’ game and see where it goes.
What inspires you and how do you channel it when you need inspiration? The beauty of nature does it for me. When I need to push through, I just start typing. Doesn’t matter if it’s gibberish. I can fix that later. Before I know it, I’ve got some good story stuff happening on the page.
What advice can you give to aspiring authors? Never give up. Ever. Study the craft of writing. Learn to put what’s in your head onto the page so others can ‘see through your eyes.’
What advice would you give to the youth of today (not just authors)? The struggles our teens face today are fierce. My one hope is that our nation holds fast to strong family values. Life is hard no matter what age we are, but our friends and family stand with you through the storms. Maintain those relationships! And, remain in school if you possibly can, it’s worth it in the end.
What’s on your bucket list? Sounds boring, but… To write the next book. That is my big thrill. And, I love to drive, so I’d like to get in my Z4, put the top down, and cruise our nation’s highways and side roads.
Tell us about your book:
Chased through time by her father’s murderer, Houston architect Sheridan Wells unwittingly ‘erases’ herself and hurtles back to 1877 Wyoming Territory, to the moment that changed her family’s history forever—to the source of her father’s wealth—wealth the villain swears is his.
Heart locked by guilt, widower Alexander Reed, a War of the Rebellion hero-turned-rancher, attempts to disprove the transient woman’s story, labels her a charlatan and intends to dismiss her, but his precocious daughter has already claimed Sheridan as her new mother.
When the villain renews his quest for wealth and vengeance, Sheridan and Alexander must combine forces to defeat the crazed killer. This time, and no matter the cost, Alexander vows to protect his family. Will Sheridan’s stalker claim his due, or will she find sanctity within the family of her heart…before the window of time fades forever into the 25th hour?

Good morning, Shelley, thank you so much for the spotlight today. I’m so excited to be here! As a debut author, I have to say that it’s a bit of a thrill, in the best possible way, to be sharing my life experiences in a blogging format. When I picked up the pen, way back when, to try my hand at writing, it was just a personal challenge to see if I could do it–to actually write a whole book. Once I’d done that, there was no turning back. I’m hooked on storytelling. Thanks for the opportunity to share my joy!
Great spotlight, Jaye! Let me know when you’re ready to hit the road in your Z4. Sure hope you can check that second book off your bucket list soon!
Road trip! So many opportunities for filling the writer’s well. Jan, your seat is reserved and we’re traveling light. Laptop and ditty bag, let’s roll!
Shelley is the bomb and Jaye, your spotlight if great today. Good luck and happy road trip.
Hi Ronelda, thanks for your support. You’re right, Shelley is a great host. 🙂
Thanks so much for participating! You have had a busy day today! Congrats. Hope it brings great success!
Thanks! Hope it brings a lot of attention to the authors and added sales. Have a great day!
Jay your book sounds like it will be an interesting read. Catherine & I love traveling and maybe next summer we will get the chance to go west. Our travels this year have been to the north, south and upcoming to the east. As you say a lot of story ideas come from the travel. Best of luck with your sales.
Hi Donald and Catherine! Thanks for stopping by. Sounds like the two of you have already covered a lot of ground. The history behind all the old inns and settlements have always captured my attention. I hope you enjoy the trip back into the 19th century with Sheridan, Alexander and his daughter, Angel Rose. Thanks for your good wishes!
Jaye
I have read your book and found it to be an excellent read. I truly enjoy learning about other authors, their view points and aspirations. Nice to see Wyoming highlighted.
Hi Barbara! How wonderful that you stopped by. Thank you so much for the fabulous review that you posted on Amazon.com for my debut release. I appreciate that very much! The surprise I’ve found while doing these blog interviews is that I discover things about myself. Either I’ve forgotten an incident from my past and these questions bring up those memories, or I’d never paid close enough attention to some detail of my life that’s become relevant today. How fun is that?
Excellent post, Jaye! A second book is also on my bucket list. Once we get started…
You and me, Joanne. You and me. LOL! I’m about 3/4th complete with my follow-up for The 25th Hour. How about you?
Great post, Jaye. The only thing that can interfere with my writing is a chance to travel. LOL
Susan, I may never catch up to all your travels…and that’s saying a lot! We’re two peas in the same writer/travel pod. 😉
Jaye, the book sounds great. I like to travel those back roads, too. Good luck with the book.
Catherine, I grew up on those back roads. Most of them were dirt. Full of muddy ruts in summer and drifted with snow in winter. Never kept me from exploring, though. LOL! Thanks for the good wishes!
