The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
If you are a parent, this book will probably upset you, especially if you have daughters. I found it gut-wrenching emotionally. Still, it was probably one of the best books I’ve read simply because the author basically hog-tied you into an emotional upheaval about the loss of a child in the worst possible situation. As much as the topic bothered me, the story was great. Incredibly sad. Vividly portrayed family situations and emotions. I really felt for every one of the remaining family members. A highly emotional read (how many times have I used the word emotion?) My husband read it too and had the same reaction….funny because a big man bawling his eyes out is quite a picture!
